China pauses US ship port fees for a year

Ships get relief and trade costs drop as port fee standoff is suspended

China has decided to suspend extra port fees on ships linked to the US for one year, starting immediately. These fees applied to vessels built, flagged, or operated by US companies when docking at Chinese ports.

The move comes after the US paused similar charges on Chinese ships. This is seen as a step to cool down rising trade tensions between the two countries.

The extra port fees were introduced by China in October to respond to the US measures. Now, ships will face lower costs, and trade between the two nations may become easier.

Experts say this is a sign that both sides may be willing to ease trade restrictions and avoid further conflict.
