Trump now supports House vote to release Epstein Files

Reversal follows mounting bipartisan demand for clarity and also the President has ‘nothing to hide’

US President Donald Trump has changed his position and is now asking House Republicans to vote in favour of releasing the files linked to Jeffrey Epstein. Earlier, Trump wasn’t supportive of making the documents public, but he now says he has nothing to hide and wants the issue settled.

The House is expected to vote soon on whether the Justice Department should release the full set of Epstein-related records. These documents may contain details of Epstein’s contacts, activities, and investigation history.

Democrats say Trump only changed his mind because he realised he did not have enough support to block the vote. They claim he is trying to get ahead of any negative attention that could follow once the files are released.

Republicans have mixed reactions. Some welcome the move because they have long pushed for transparency in the Epstein case. Others feel Trump’s earlier resistance made the process confusing and delayed unity within the party.

A new proposal, called the Epstein Files Transparency Act, aims to release most of the documents while protecting the identities of victims or information tied to ongoing cases.

As the vote approaches, both parties are preparing for the fallout. Releasing the files could bring more clarity about Epstein’s network, but it may also spark new political debates and put fresh pressure on high-profile figures connected to the case.
